Hazelcourt Ponds is situated in the beautiful Vale of Glamorgan countryside and is a complex of 6 lakes, catering from the pleasure angler to the specialist Catfish and Carp anglers, with a wide variety of fish species including Bream of 8lb, Tench to 8lb 8oz, Golden Tench to 7lb and Roach and Rudd to a very respectable size. Orfe to over 5lbs are regularly recorded too. Chub and hybrids can pop up nearly anywhere.
It's a fishery hard to categorize as so many species inhabit the waters, but the mainstay is carp in all of its colors and varieties.
A big-fish venue if you're up to it! Catfish from 10lb to 35lb in our dedicated Cafish lake and Carp up to 25lb have been caught in the Specimen lake. (These fish can all be found in our gallery).

The lakes, with the exception of the Catfish Lake, are spring fed. All the lakes are well stocked and more than 10 years old except Jims Pond which is 5 years old.

The Catfish Lake was re-stocked this year with 20 Wells catfish and also contains a large head of Carp, Rudd, Roach, Orf, Tench, Golden Tench and Bream.

The Reed Lake has a large stock which includes all varieties of Carp (including Koi and Crucian), as well as Rudd, Roach, Bream, Tench, Golden Tench, Orf and Barbel.

The Pleasure Lake has a large stock which includes all varieties of Carp (including Koi), as well as Rudd, Roach, Bream, Tench, Golden Tench and Orf.

The Specimen Lake containes our largest Carp, up to 25lb, as well as Rudd, Roach, Bream, Tench, Golden Tench, Orf, Chubb and Ide.

Jims Pond is our newest Lake but has already yielded Carp up to 14lb. A good Lake for pole and float fishing as it also contains Rud, Roach, Bream, Tench, Golden Tench and Orf.

All lakes are available for night fishing.

Access to all water is good with open grassy banks - quite suitable for the disabled and enough room for the longest pole. All ponds are up to 6ft deep with silt bottoms.

We have adequate parking and toilet facilities. Also tea, coffee and a small selection of bait are available to buy.
